Monday, April 7th, Update:

Bethany has had a very hard weekend.  I arrived back in Atlanta last night.  She continues to run a fever between 101 and 103, and she continues to have a lot of stomach and back pain related to the Lymphoma.

Last night Bethany’s white blood cell count dropped far below normal.  Normal is 4000+.  Bethany’s white blood count is 930.  This means that her body is unable to properly fight off infections.  We currently have her on various antibiotics to fight infection.  Bethany is also on anti-viral medication as well.

Tomorrow we will repeat her MRI to see if we’ve gained any ground with her cancer.  The MRI has been moved up because of Bethany’s fever, low white blood cell count, and continued pain.  Once we receive the results from the MRI, we should be able to make a decision about whether we’ll need to use additional medications to treat the cancer (i.e. chemo).

Last night many places experienced heavy rains.  Hoover was one of those places.  As a result, our basement flooded.  Angela and Jonathan, with the help of some wonderful friends, are currently removing all the furniture, carpet, and carpet pads from the basement.  We don’t anticipate a lot of damage, but it is a lot of work to clean up.  Please remember Angela as she’s having to handle this without me today.

How to pray:

  1. Pray God will receive glory even in these hard circumstances.
  2. Pray that Bethany’s white blood count will return to normal.
  3. Pray that we will get Bethany’s fever under control.
  4. Pray that Bethany’s MRI will show great (miraculous even) improvements in her stomach and intestines.
  5. Pray we can get a good handle on Bethany’s pain levels.  She did not sleep much last night.
  6. Pray for the doctors wisdom on how to care for Bethany.
  7. Pray for Angela and Jonathan as they try to fix the basement.

Thank you for your prayers.  Thank you for your concerns and the kind notes.  I’m reading them to Bethany, and they are encouraging her.

In His grace,
Taylor, Angela, Bethany, and Jonathan
