Transplant Surgery Update # 3:

They have now removed Bethany’s liver, and are replacing it with her new healthy liver.  Even as I write this, it is hard for me to comprehend what they are doing to my little girl.  I know its for her best, but it is still difficult to think about.

The nurse reports that Bethany is doing well.  She continues to be stable and strong.

Thank you for your continued prayers.

Transplant Schedule Update!

It looks like Bethany’s surgery will now begin around 6 p.m. tonight!

They have found homes for all the organs from the donor, and they expect to take the organs around 2 p.m.

  1. Please pray for God’s continued wisdom, knowledge, and insight for the doctors as they continue to evaluate this liver for Bethany.
  2. Pray that we all can get some good rest while we wait.
  3. Pray that this liver will be a perfect fit for Bethany and that she will not have any complications.
  4. Pray for the surgical team.
  5. Give God great praise for His marvelous deeds!

Thank you everyone for the continued notes and prayers.  Your prayers are being answered, and God is being glorified!

In His grace,
Taylor, A

Transplant Update

We are still waiting for Bethany’s organ.  The doctors have told us that they are still trying to place all the organs from the donor.  I believe they are still looking for a recipient for the heart.

The earliest surgery will begin now is noon, but it will most likely be early afternoon.  The surgery will take about 6-8 hours once they begin and they will give us hourly updates.

As we know more, I will continue to update Bethany’s Caringbridge page, my blog, and my facebook page.  Thank you everyone for your continued prayers.

Blessings,
Taylor, Angela, Bethany, and Jonathan

Called for Transplant!!!

28 hours after being fully listed as a liver transplant patient in Atlanta we have been called in for a possible organ!!!

We are now at Children’s Hospital of Atlanta Egleston for Bethany to receive her new liver!

Last night about 7 p.m. we received a call with an offer for a liver for Bethany.  My parents, Bill & Kay Kendrick, had just arrived at our home for a visit from Foley, Alabama.  We had just finished praying for our dinner when the phone rang.  An hour and a half later, we were packed and on the road to Atlanta!

We had no problems driving to Atlanta.  In fact, we made it to Children’s Hospital in two and a half hours thanks to my awesome cousin who did some fabulous repairs to my 2001 Tahoe!  Thanks again Robby for all the work you did on my truck.  It continues to run beautifully!  I never once worried about it ability to get us here safely even though it has over 305000 miles on it.

We are all checked in now.  Everyone is trying to rest while we await Bethany’s new liver.  Originally, we were told that surgery would take place sometime between 3-5 a.m., but we have not had any updates since arriving.  They need to get the organ here and visually inspect it.  Once this happen, and everything checks out, we’ll be good to go.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts, prayers, and wonderful notes of encouragement!  All of us have been so surprised at how fast the word got out and how quick everyone responded.  Keep those prayers a coming!

We love all of you.  You are God’s strength for us through your prayers.

Until we know more, always in His grace,
Taylor, Angela, Bethany, and Jonathan
